SENIOR OF THE MONTH
Senior of the Month-October
Avery Rexroat daughter of Matthew and Briana Rexroat has been selected by members of the MHS Faculty Council as Senior of the Month for October, 2021. This program is sponsored by the Mid-America National Bank who established the program to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding senior students.
Avery participates in volleyball, softball, Ecology Club, Student Council, MYLO, National Honor Society, and is Vice President of the senior class.
She helps with Jr. High volleyball and is a volunteer at the hospital during the summer.
Avery has broken the school assist record in volleyball twice, broken the service points school record, made the high honor roll for the past three years, and has been named honorable mention and special mention on the Illinois State Volleyball team.
Some favorite pass times are paddle-boarding and spending Sunday lunches with her grandparents.
Avery has work experience as a waitress at Larry A's and lifeguarding at Glenwood Pool.
After high school, Avery is unsure where she plans to attend college but is looking forward to playing college volleyball while majoring in Biology or Nursing.
Congratulations to Avery for being selected Senior of the Month for October, 2021!
November Teacher of the Month
Congratulations to Mrs. Tonya Hamer for being selected as the November Macomb High School Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Hamer was nominated by one of her fellow colleagues. Senora Hamer was nominated for this honor because she has made an impact this month by ensuring that the students are thoroughly engaged both in the classroom and in the hallways of MHS. The mariposas, the Dia de los Muertos display, and “Spanish words of the day” were a meaningful and a beautiful way to share Hispanic culture with Macomb students and teachers. Senora Hamer has made Macomb High School a better place by bringing awareness to the Hispanic culture, and by engaging students and teachers in her content area. Her Spanish Club also adorned the hallways with posters during Hispanic Heritage Month. The posters were of influential Hispanic professionals communicating inspirational slogans. She has made MHS more connected and has brightened up our hallways. Thank you, Senora!
Congratulations to Senora Hamer for being selected the November Teacher of the Month!
